James Benoit has numerous publications to his name and has appeared in several world-famous financial magazines and newsletters. As the President of the Society of Financial Analysts of Mauritius (SFAM), he regularly publishes articles related to the world of corporate finance. His area of specialty is the ongoing money migration from West to East and South-South trade as the new global economic model.

The growth of Africa as an investment destination, a source of energy and resources and increasingly a middle-class consumer economy is becoming steadily apparent. Organisations such as mine, AfrAsia Bank Limited, with offices in Mauritius, Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, have been created in the last four years to specifically participate in and help create and sustain its growth.

Dr. Marc Faber was born in 1946 in Zurich, Switzerland. He studied Economics at the University of Zurich and, at the age of 24, obtained a PhD in Economics magna cum laude. Between 1970 and 1978, Dr Faber worked for White Weld & Company Limited in New York, Zurich and Hong Kong. Since 1973, he has lived in Hong Kong.
When we ask whether the Mauritian rupee should be allowed to float, there seems an implied fear and, in some cases, hope that it will immediately sink! That is the consensus opinion it seems to me, or at least it seems that is the major fear. That fear is unfounded. I think the Mauritian rupee could turn out to be a strong swimmer, should it be decided to let it float!
